Michael (or Mikey as his friends call him) and Gill actually came to me thanks to a common love of old VWs. In my previous professional life as an IT professional I was able to wear a lot of T-Shirts to work. A common theme in my t-shirt collection is old VWs. Mike’s sister, Nadine, was one of the users I used to support, and when she noticed my t-shirts had a lot of VWs on them she related to me that her brother was into VWs and as it turned out he’s fairly involved with the same club I used to be. When I left my IT job to pursue DJing full time, I still kept in touch with Nadine via Facebook. And when her brother got engaged she of course put us in touch with each other.

So this thanksgiving weekend I had the great opportunity to spend time with Michael and Gill at the absolutely fantastic Azuridge Estate Hotel with the rest of their family & friends. As it turns out, we had more in common than old rusty cars – we also share a love of soulful deep house music. After I made sure their ceremony ran smooth with appropriate music I moved to the dinner room where I spun some nice house tunes. The dance was in a different space – so after we finished dinner and Mike and Gill cut the cake we moved to the main bar in the hotel, where we finished the night with a fantastic celebration! We kind of moved away from the house music – 90’s Hip-Hop classics were a favorite throughout the night! It was an absolutely fantastic evening through and through!
